A new post is an obvious sign that I have a significant assignment due for school
Yes, I have a five page paper due for my Sociology of Religion class, which is a class that I love by the way. I love it but it doesn't stop me from wasting time in many other ways, as usual, than actually trying to get the damn paper done early.
At the moment I'm sitting in my sanctuary, struggling with the uncomfortableness of my ponytail being jammed against the wall, while trying to stay comfortable on my bed. Juggling my laptop, trying to reference my textbook and watching DC Cupcakes on TLC is taking all of my balance-y-ness that Ive got. I need a houseboy named Alejandro to hold the textbook. One day, Alejandro.
This new show, DC Cupcakes, is a peek into a family cupcake bakery in Georgetown. It sounds good, right? Well, its been a little odd so far. The two owners are thirty-something sisters who left their corporate jobs to open a quiet little bakery. They also talk in baby talk to each other. Their mother is on the show. They call her mommy and speak to her like she is 4 years old. The whole staff also call her mommy. Maybe "Corporate Jobs" mean "Madams of a brothel specializing in Adult Diaper Play" Its just a theory.
Since I'm ignoring my paper, I decided to check out what was coming up on my calender and I think that I've overbooked myself. This means that I'm going to be crankier in the next couple of weeks. While nodding my head and saying "yes" I forgot that next weekend I'm working Saturday. I have plans on Friday to meet a friend, Saturday, a party, Sunday a Barenaked Ladies Concert and then Monday after work, I'm going to the Improv to see a Smodcast taping with my buddy Jeffie. Oh about Tuesday my usual complaining is going to increase 10 fold. That kinda sucks for everyone else because for the last couple of weeks I've been cranky and annoyingly whiny to my friends and family. Sometimes I put a Post It on my moniter that says "Stop Whining" Its time to dig that out again.
I need to get back to this paper. We're celebrating the BFF's birthday tonight. Sushi is for dinner and I most likely will be dancing in her kitchen to Come On Eileen before the evening ends. I better have an outline established before the festivities begin.

Goings On
No I'm not really going to rehash all of that stuff. Even I feel like its fucking boring. Here is some general stuff happening.
I'm in Tour de France season (Over on July 25th, woo hoo) and that means that the quiet moments that we normally would have together turn into me upstairs finding something to do and he's watching the latest stage in the race. Its fine; its not a danger sign of impending marriage doom. I've been doing this since my first race season since 1996.
So, yes, right now he's downstairs and I'm being kept company by Dexter Morgan. I've also caught up on my google reader and some blogs that I like to look in on from time to time.
I posted a comment on this post on 10eleven; the 3rd bullet about contemplating relationships. The part about the bastardish behavior about not recognizing a 20 year relationship after one of the couple dies and their friends and family act as if their relationship wasn't important since they weren't married. My sisters best friend had her fiance die when were all about 20 years old. Her best friend was invited by another to a bowling night. After she explained what had happened and that the funeral was the same day as the bowling night, this person said, "well come after, its going to be fun!" I wish that I was surprised that people can be such assholes.
We are also trying to coordinate the trip to NYC next year because there is going to be about 8 people going on that trip. Finding a week that we can all agree on has been a pain, then ignored by all, then someone messages everyone and they want a decision NOW...in July... months away from the anticipated trip in March or April. Ugh family.
My hair is getting longer and longer and longer and I have forgotten how much of a pain it is when growing it out. From time to time I've wished that I would have learned a particular skill from each of my parents and right now i know that I should have paid attention to my mother when she french braided my hair. Its so thick and too hot in the summer but I love how it looks. My look while home is a pebbles ponytail. You know, Pebbles Flintstone. That caveman baby that had her ginger pony tail on top of her head. I tried 2 ponytails today. No I will not be doing the Chrissy Snow side ponytail. My attempts at braids have shamed my mother's memory, I'm sure.
Oh my god, Pebbles was a GINGER. She's a daywalker; she has no soul. poor caveman baby.

I painted my nails this color. It's Blue My Mind by OPI.
I'm still trying to co-ordinate my trip to Colorado. I have a conservative couple making plans and a gay single man making plans. We'll have fun but are trying to balance what to do with whom and when. And my sister is joining us. My sister is very picky. Not that I'm inferring that I'm not picky but the both of us traveling together in the past has led to our only fights. We are also trying to coordinate the trip to NYC next year because there is going to be about 8 people going on that trip. Worries and other stuff
I get this horrible feeling that I can't breathe when I'm worried. I can't breathe right now.
A girlfriend of mine has been trying to get pregnant for six years. She's been pregnant a week and she's started to cramp and bleed a lot. So much time and money invested for something I just cannot understand or connect with but I know that the heartache coming is going to be devastating. What do I mean by "coming"? From our texts/phone call today, it seems that she isn't quite believing that this pregnancy has a very good chance of not happening. She lives so far away.
The title is misleading. All I got is worries and actually its just the one above. I'm such a liar.
I actually am feeling better after typing this down. I should probably unburden myself a little more than I do but I like to keep my anxiety to myself until it all blows up in an inappropriate moment and its usually the hubs who ends up dealing with it. Poor guy. But that's his job right? He's supposed to make me happy and get me stuff that I like?
Actually he is trying to get me something that I don't like and he seems to have his mind made up about it. We have guns in the house. I hate them but I figured that I should get proficient at using it. I'm not happy about it but I'm not a stupid girl. I might need to get to it before a menacing criminal in my house does. I was pretty good at firing his .40 caliber but my hands are too small and I started to strain my thumb. Well OBVIOUSLY I need one that fits my hand and therefore we need to buy me a gun. After complaining about the new gun present, I've discovered that about 6 of my girlfriends own their own guns. Is the gun this years Coach Purse because I hate those too.

The fifth of July
I really should be a lot better about posting here. I was reading through some old post and its been cathartic. It's nice to to know that I feel the same way about my sweetbaby/husband and that my friends are still very dear to me.
I've also felt a bit of a twinge about leaving people behind, if you can believe it. That ex-BFF that I had to part ways with without a final discussion. She was the absolute worst in managing her computer, downloading free stuff willy nilly. I've been getting spam email from her in the past couple of weeks. She most likely has been clicking on spam links because that what she does and I'm getting them because apparently I'm still in her contact lists. I've also prepared myself for the inevitable questions about her from a mutual friend, a mutual friend that I'm going to be visiting in a few weeks in Colorado. I do miss her from time to time. What I didn't appreciate was her taking advantage of my husband's good will. It really came down to her or my sweetbaby and of course I would choose him. I do miss her from time to time. I want to be clear that she acted most selfishly.
Anyway, that was a bummer to bring up.
Last weekend was filled with too many people and I proclaimed that I would be spending the holiday with myself and my husband. It didn't work out that way. There were too many people in my holiday weekend. I spent today, trying to counteract, in my home cleaning and watching documentaries on my laptop to get back to myself. That was topped off by some intense True Blood watching and a House marathon. mmmm Hugh Laurie.
My family's birthday celebration was last weekend. We are a family full of hermits. (You of course know that my family consists of my sisters and friends very dear to me that I've know for decades) We all seems to keep to ourselves unless we're with each other and then we can trust each other. We caught up over a movie, lunch and ice cream. Lots of confession; some shocking but as long as everyone is SAFE then C'est La Vie. We saw Toy Story 3. I sobbed. I did.
What else is new?
Dave's father has cancer and had a big chunk of his body removed. And he lived. which is a disappointment to me. I have my reasons for wishing that man ill and my sweetbaby understands why I feel that way. I also understand why his father is one of his closest friends. We have our understandings.
I had my last class with professor Hottie. I'm going to miss you baby.
Work is work. Its a job and it gives me the opportunity to go on vacation and go out to some very fabulous dinners.
Ok, I was going to go off on a long long narrative about how getting old sucks the big one, but I'm not one for dwelling on the negative. Ok I do but I don't share it with anyone. I deal with it in my own private breakdown. But here NO goddammit. This year has been amazing. I've seen Glee in concert, I am going to see Scott Mosier at the end of the month in a Live Smodcast. Can a girl ask for anything more? Maybe, but I don't need much more.

Mid Year Review
Ah Friday, I love you. I want to open mouth kiss you with chocolate strawberries. Sweetbaby is outside with his scotch and cigar relaxing after he made us dinner. He’s so freaking funny, and kind, and selfless, etc… Yadda Yadda Yadda. Before he headed outside he’s been kind enough to watch a TLC wedding dress show with me. He spotted the adam’s apple before I did on the she-male and also had some really great sarcastic-y remarks that impressed ME. Yes, I AM the luckiest girl alive.
I’ve been sporadic while posting here so I checked out what I’ve posted so far this year. My January 5th post about being more social and seeing those that I love but only see 1 to 2 times a year a LOT more. Yeah, that didn’t happen. I really still do love you all. I’m just a hermit. That friend that I found annoying? Well, we’re no longer friends. I blame it on getting older. I have time that I want to give to others, not to someone that I dread hearing or seeing from. She was voted off my island, because I seem to waste less time as each year goes by.
I made a pledge to write more here and then my next post was in April. The pain in the arthritis situation is much better. The miracle drug situation is causing havoc in me in other ways. You don’t want to know the ugly details but I’m dealing with it because there really isn’t an alternative. Catalina was just the slow pace that I needed. I’m so looking forward to Colorado and seeing Steffie and Doug and David. My graduation won’t be until December. I’ve had some snafus in getting the classes that I needed available. I’m still pissed about this but I can’t change it. Lady Gaga sold out. I’m not going. Sad face. But just to be clear, things are very good. And as for the new friend, that is great and that’s good. I was surprised to find that I would really like someone and trust them as much as the new buddy. Dave likes him, my BFF likes him, he’s funny, sarcastic, and every once in a while I discover new disturbing aspects to his personality. He’s like the step brother I never had. I feel like he’s someone that I can count on and he’s capable of doing those evil brother things like hanging a loogie over my face and sucking it back up.
I get along pretty well with guys. There are very few girls that I TRULY get along with and these are the girls that I miss; the girls that I have seen a little as once a year. Girls, we need to get together and revel in our awesomeness. You know, sometime.

A post; An act to ignore an assignment due tomorrow
Will this be a cheater post; a post of BULLITS?
I haven't posted in a while so take what you get, said in the kindest of way.
I haven't posted in a while so take what you get, said in the kindest of way.
- The arthritis situation is not so wonderful lately. I keep telling myself that I've have endured much much worse. It is what it is but its also an inconvenience and annoyance.
- I made a new friend. Another attempt to trust. Go me! He's a guy, which is good because I seem to get along with guys better, he's my age, in fact 1 1/2 months older than me, and we are very much alike. Except for his job hating attitude and the marriage that needs work. I like my job and love my husband very much. At least we can be sarcastic and like Star Wars together. AND he appreciates a bombay sapphire gin martini. Always a plus in my book.
- A vacation is planned to Catalina and we are finalizing a trip to Colorado later this year.
- I found out that I'm finally graduating this summer in August. That is if they don't cancel my class due to no enough students registering for them. My advisor has promised to find something to replace them. She better come through. I can't stand going to class anymore.
- I'm going to Lady Gaga. That's important.
- I made friends with the 26 year old 6'6" Bosnian in my Migration & Culture class. Now that we are friends, I have more of an opportunity to hear his accent. Yay for me!

Hello 2010. Where is my jetpack?
OMG look I'm posting something.
I've already said this before; I just don't feel comfortable telling EVERTHING about what I'm thinking. I'm pretty hermit-y and I can write a few amusing things on my Facebook status but not what I really want to say. This space is what I was hoping to do with that but....
See, a friend of mine, someone from, gosh, a decade and a half ago, wrote way too much in his blog and I can't seem to shake the impression of that person trying to find his way. I guess writing in my own space should make me understand that we all function at the proper society acceptable level and we don't REALLY dwell on the subject that we choose to write about every minute of the day. Its just something that you want to flesh out in print and be done with it (or at least that's what I do) but writing too much about what I'm thinking might give the wrong impression, just as it has with the friend mentioned. Does this make sense?
Anyway...
Here are a few things that I'm THINKING about but don't DWELL ON.
I'm way too hermit-y and I have days where I think that that is just fine and somedays that I feel that I should probably be more proactive in keeping those connections that I want, connected.
This is coming from, (once again) a girl who has decided that we are BFF's. Ok I'm forty. She is 27 and she talks to me like we are 15. I'm not a girly girl so don't "sugar" and "honey" me. Its fine every once in a while but JESUS CHRIST ON A POGO STICK stop doing it at every contact. She also kept calling me on school nights. I don't like chatting on the phone. Over dinner, great! and me repeatedly saying that I didn't pick up because I won't on school nights, never registered with her. And she invited herself along to my real BFF's movie night and a "just Dave and Anne" night. Yes, i'm overreacting but I can do that with my personal time.
On the flip side, I wish I would make more time for my friends, (everyone else besides this girl, to clarify). School is exhausting for me and I just haven't made the effort to step out more with those I see 1 or 2 times a year.
I will be finished with my bachelor's this summer (if the classes are available ::crosses fingers::) so then I can take a break before I do a second bachelor's or masters's.
I'll keep trying to be more social 2010.
I'm also going to continue to write here. That mean's I'm stopping and will continue posting with the other stuff I'm thinking about.

A New Post
Its been a while and I don't really have a reason to post something except that I'm awake.
I'm baking a pound cake for a friends birthday and I'm kinda stuck being awake until I complete the task.
I should be better about starting a project a little earlier.
Sooo Whats up with y'all?
Does anyone still blog?

Normal
Ah Sunday, still my favorite day of the week.
I wish that I had something exciting to report but its the same old, same old around here.
I'm still working for that darn bachelor's. At the moment I'm in an internet class, Social Anthropology. I was wondering when I was going to read "Yanomamö, during my college career and its here already. I have about 5 classes until I'm done. The trouble is finding the classes I need to fit my work schedule.
Works good, nothing to report there. No other activity from the girl who who wanted to be my best friend. I tend to stay out of her way. I do hear that she's backed off from others, as well.
I've been a little more social than normal, and I don't really like it. I've met some girls after work for movies, cocktails and dinner more that a few times in the last couple of weeks. I really like these people but I sooo love my solitude, I feel like I'm impatient, waiting for the time to go home. Yeah, I know that it sets me up for my eventual end; dying alone 2 weeks before the neighbors report me missing and they find my 30 cats have eaten my face. I already came to terms with that end in my angsty teenage years. I'm happy not being bothered. Dave is just fine about this by the way. He has many outside interest that keeps him occupied when I want to stay home. As long as he comes home with coffee for me when he returns, he gets to do what he wants, mostly.
Saturday, was spent with the BFF and Ginger (the red-headed BFF's husband) at cocktails and then a movie. Our bartender, Mixtress Melissa, is a new transplant from Idaho. She shared the same views on non-God and non-Children so we invited her and her husband Andrew to see The Hangover, and they happily accepted. Before, the arrival of Andrew, we girls started talking about boys from our past. Well, mostly because Melissa is young, newly married and has very small issues about marriage and love that we've all had. Not much to say, really, I had a handful of boyfriends, only one really good one, and then I got married to the one that I was supposed to marry. Supposed to, meaning, timing, trust, love, lives in Phoenix and won't move, my mother liked him a lot. It was a good start and only got better. The point is me rehashing what worked and what didn't isn't going to help someone else. Just like I did, you need to live it and take away what you need to, to leave or stay and make it work.
And The Hangover I loved. If you see it, you will know exactly how disturbed an individual I am. After it ended, I said that we need to watch this every Christmas.

Monday, Monday
I was reminded this morning that I have a blog. woops!
This could have not been more of a Monday, than any Monday that I've had before.
I'm not the best at getting out of bed. Our alarm clock goes off at 6am but Dave gets to the bathroom first and I check out my email from my phone. It's like this pretty much everyday. I sleepily open my phone and head to Yahoo mail.
What awaited for me was an email rehashing a kind of a rift, from a very dear friend. I will own half of the cause of this mess but I had a good year-ish to let it go and move on. I just didn't fill this person in that I had moved on and we are still the dearest of friends.
Anyway, I still love you baby, always will.
After I got over the "Holy Shit, Good Morning Monday" I was able to type back very simply that things are A-OK. Within the hour I was laughing to hysterics at our old ebb and flow of conversation.
Anyway, I also dropped toothpaste on my pants, lost a contact, couldn't find one of the shoes that I wanted to wear and dropped my purse down the stairs, spilling the contents. So now I'm on the road, knowing that I'm late getting to work.
I work 15 miles from home. Oh at about mile 12, I discover that I don't have my badge. I can't get past the armed guards to get on campus and I would be able to get into the building without it. I was an hour late getting in.
This is one bright shining moment. When I got home and retrieved the badge I discovered that my top was inside out and was able to fix that.
I am awesome.
***UPDATE***
I forgot to add that I had just woken up from one of those dreams that seem sooo real. Dave was trying to have me committed and it was really scary.

Training Day
Ok its more like training three weeks.
My two teams are going through a new training "thing". I am there to learn along with them but I'm not officially enrolled and am not held to any measurement at the end. If I'm getting paid for it, I'm good.
So we do the usually, "lets go around the table and tell everyone who you are, how long have you worked here and one thing that no one knows about you". Its been the same introduction in every meeting or new classroom training since I've been there.
"I'm Anne, I've been here 4 years and I'm a Star Wars nerd"
Really easy, right?
I end up asking conversation starters for my 16 minions (the other half are taking this training later) because (whiny voice) they can't think of anything.
I asked the guy next to me, "How did you propose to your wife?" Everyone ended up answering the same question (I don't know why) but discovered that people really like those cute engagement stories. Once again, I'm the weirdo who doesn't put much stock in romanticisms and did NOT share her casual conversation of marital agreement, while driving in the car on the way to a local fast food establishment in 1996.

that show on sunday
I got creeped out at the end when Bill recited the prayer over the sacrament, BECAUSE I WAS SAYING IT ALONG WITH HIM AND DIDN'T REALIZE IT! Blech.
So, when is True Blood coming back?

Saturday is Fun
My current Facebook status says, "After I left the salon, the manicurist asked my BFF HOW I married a WHITE GUY"
Saturday morning Talullah Toyota, (the given name of my 4Runner) had to get her oil changed. Dave dropped me at the salon then came and picked me up at noon. I had a nail appointment at the same time that my best friend, Heather, had an appointment with our hair guy, Tony, so after she saw how cute my nails were she decided to get a manicure while her hair color was setting. I was chatted with her and Tony and the manicurist when Dave walked in. He stepped over to say hello to Tony while Heather and I wrapped up our conversation about meeting later that day for pomagranate martinis and a movie.
The manicurist asked if that was my friend and I said that's my husband, said goodbye to everyone and left.
So we meet Heather and Dean for food at about 3pm and she tells me what happened after I left. The manicurist asked Heather if that was my friend and she said no that's her husband.
M: That's her HUSBAND!?! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!?! HE'S SO LIGHT!?!
Then she asks Heather about my history with Dave, How did we meet, how long did we date, how long have we been married...?
Seriously I find this completly funny.
I update my status on Twitter (which updates Facebook) then send a message to the only former boyfriend on Facebook that apparently I was lucky to have him since he is white. Totally funny. Anyway, It's the main reason why I dated him, because he's white (jk) I am a smart ass, can you tell?
Anyway, the martinis were amazing and the movie was really good. I am totally smitten with Jason Segal and Paul Rudd.
Its probably because they're white guys.

I am so freaking tired
Bloody hell, I'm beat
I neglected to finish my homework for this evening so last night I stayed after class, went to the library and stayed til 11pm to complete the assignment.
This where I know I'm not invincible. I felt like I hadn't slept a wink waking up. I was assisting a new employee today, I was basically a person sitting nearby to answer questions. Torturous when all you want to do is sleep.
Two things brightened my day.
Toddster has a new haircut and he looks quite cute. He came by to say hello when I was waiting my turn to get a sandwich made. He said hello by blowing on my neck. We discussed the gang coming over to the house in a few weekends. We have to use the patio before Spring starts and the temperatures climb into the 90's
Professor Hottie paused in front of me, tilted his head slightly and smiled, inhaled, exhaled and handed me my test (96%! its because I'm awesome). It was all in slow motion. sigh. Well..it felt like it was in slow motions to me.

this weeks episode
The endowment ceremony was shown along with some dialogue that probably passed by lots of non-mormons ears but REALLY shocked me that they ACTUALLY really said. Watching the ritual was really jarring for me.
Unresolved issues? I guess so!
I'm okay now
Unresolved issues? I guess so!
- First I started crying
- then I wanted to throw up
- then I thought about what it would have been like living in that world if I had married that guy
- then I knew that I could never live in that environment and would have been pretty devastating to break away if I had let my membership continue in that church
- then I felt sorry for those people that I loved who really believed this stuff LIKE MY PARENTS
- Then I remembered that my father and my aunt were dressed in the temple clothes for their funerals
- So that image made me want to throw up again.
- I was finally relieved that I'm not in that community that it was all made up
I'm okay now
