Impulse buy

I went to Revolutionary Road with Joanna, last night at Camelview. We had some time so we headed into Fashion Square to find some food and I had to walk through the Macy's purse section. They have a big chunk of that store filled with purses. I picked this up on the way out of the mall and on my way to the movie. Super Cute, huh?

The movie was amazing, by the way.

Good and Bad Day

  • I had my performance evaluation today. I'm getting a bonus that I am a little bit embarrassed to receive during these economic times. I'm paying off my car and will use the rest for tickets to Ireland.
  • The girl who has tried to force me to be my friends had TWO conversations with me today, not understanding that we will never be friends and is under the delusion that we once were BFF's. Why me?

Another attempt

Blog Blog Blog

What to say.

I actually have had some great ideas stick in my lil ole brain this past week, but have never gotten around to jotting them down on the notepad I keep in my handbag. I always have a notepad for jotting and just have gotten lazy.

Well, lets talk about today. We had to take Mike and Seamus to the vet. This resulted in scrubbing and neosporin-ing parts of Dave. Seamus knew the jig was up and gots some well placed deep scratches during his abduction.

We then headed to a family birthday. I love the family birthday's because I feel like I can be myself. Yes, I do feel that in my own home but its nice to know that when I say really awful things about children, puppies and zombie attacks, my friends will share the same views.

Wow. I really need to make sure I jot down ideas. BORING SO FAR!

Maybe I'm stuck because the Flight of the Conchords on playing behind me. I love Bret.

I'm loving school so far. I'm taking a class on world politics. The professor is amazing. She talks the big concepts in a very easily understood way. I also had the great privilege of watching her telling a student that they "were wrong and here's why".

Lovely.

My other class in baby-steps, remedial, basic qualitative research is being taught by professor hottie. Yes, he is beautiful but very scrattered in his lecture. My frustration in trying to follow him is swept away when he flips his hair and does his half smile with his perfect white teeth as he laughs at his own jokes. What's not to love? What was a great advantage for me was that his first lecture was almost exactly the same as my previous class with him last summer. He's a sociologist so he loves bending society rules and then tells his students about it. His anecdotes are amusing and, again, he flips his hair and smiles at his own stories.

Me?

Reading?
I read the eight books in the Southern Vampire series in one week
That's right
All eight in one week.
Loved them

Watching?
Housewives of Orange County
Big Love
Flight of the Conchords - I love Bret.
Secret Diary of a Call Girl - Callum Blue is in the first 3 episodes. Love him! But really I have a thing for dark haired boys. British boys too. Look I get them both in Callum.!
House - Have loved Hugh Laurie since my preteens

Listening to?
Nothing new
I have been putting iPod on shuffle and finding music that I had forgotten that I have. Very good memories unearthed, but some really weird things have played, sometimes. Why do I have the Perry Mason theme? I have some work buddies who are a decade younger then me and they have some really great suggestions for me.

I guess that this is a pretty good effort in the blogging area. I will be more diligent in the jotting area so that i can remember what has happened in the very near past.

Have a good night! I am.

evil evil coffee

I love coffee...alot...

but I've been trying to not drink it and until today I haven't had one in about two weeks. I just wanted a little break, not a forever kind of avoidance.

I'm driving around this morning and stop at Starbucks and purchase a summery iced coffee with cream and caramel syrup. I'm all by myself, car dancing to Maroon 5, pretty typical sunny summer saturday driving for me. I take one sip and say out loud,

Oooooh Baby, spank my ass and pull my hair

I think I might have an addiction

So not fair

Damn you cruel world. I made a pledge to not spend on the unnecessary, this weekend. I came home from work and what was waiting in my email but an invite to see David Sedaris! It's just NOT FAIR, but I will keep my vow.

I will amuse myself with watching this over and over again.

I may have mentioned somewhere in this blog that Stephen Colbert was the hottest man alive, and Colin Firth was second, well I was incorrect. How could I have forgotten my very first crush on a British subject? I've loved Michael Palin since I very very young. Monty Python showed up in America when I was 5 years old on PBS and one of my brothers was a big fan. I was one for sneaking out of bed and watching TV from the hallway when the whole house was dark except for the TV in the living room. He is just the cutest person in the whole freaking world.

I found this video of him giggling. sigh.

The night before the first day of school

Wow, school starts tomorrow. I'm a smart girl but I know that I'm the biggest procrastinator. I'm my own worst enemy in a learning environment. My reports cards from kindergarten on have always said "does not work to her potential" I'm excited to get this done. I had a meeting with my director (the bosses boss) last week who made it clear that my next promotion will probably hinge on having a bachelor's. Nothing new, I've been told that all along. So now I'm returning to the university I left in 1991.

So some preparation was happening this weekend. Dave and I had a state of the union meeting on the marriage. All good but we both vocalized that I will be impatient, upset at my procrastination (yeah we both know that will happen), and cranky from less than the desired amount of sleep while working a 40 hour week.

We had our first Sunday's brunch this morning and won't have another with the reunion group until after this class is done and the Sunday before the next class starts for the summer term.

Thanks to the lovely host. We got to meet the new guy, who was quiet, but very very nice. Great conversation and as usual I didn't participate much.

We then headed to the Biltmore to get me a new handbag. I have this really great Radley bag that Dave brought back for me from Ireland, a few years ago. I used it everyday, because the other purses that I had were all from Coach. Yes, this is going to sound stupid, but everyone, truly 75%, of the girls (and some of the men) at work have Coach bags. I've given them away to my niece in Ireland, except for one really sweet red one. So here is the new one. A Guess? so not putting a big dent into the checking account.

I've updated the house calender to make sure that all of our commitments are in writing and not forgotten. Dave has done the laundry and has gone to the grocery store. We have both had a bit of supper and now we are trying to relax a bit before we head to bed at a decent hour.

Dave is watching racing and talking to his friends and family.

I relaxed by drinking a giant bottle of Pellegrino, watched Seven (gwyneth's head in a box) and now the last episode of The Tudors.

I did catch the MTV Movie awards. Alot of my hunky favorites were on. Edward Norton, Robert Downey Jr and Johnny Depp. I actually felt the earth shift when Johnny walked on stage to accept his two awards. I got woosy from his hotness. Ay yi yi!

memories

I just finished a snack after talking for a really long time to an ex from my past and it was really kinda great. (clarification: I guess I mean the snack and the conversation)

See, I had this random thought after musing on REM's new CD and after a small chain of events I ended up with his phone number in an email. The email was sent by him, I'm not a stalker.

I did anticipate apologizing for being a stupid young selfish girl if I had the chance to talk to him ever again but I was a little surprised about how I felt when he agreed with me. Eh, I'm over it now.

So now random memories (all good) have started popping up. That much we agreed on, it was generally all pretty good except for issues that I can attribute to my youth.

So glad to hear from you, Scotty! Yeah, I don't think I ever called you Scotty before...

drawl

This morning, Dave and I saw montage commercial of the Hot Men on the Encore Love channel.

Matthew McConaughey said somewhere in there, "My accent hasn't hurt me none with the ladies".

Yeah

Dave repeated the line and now is only speaking in his Texas accent.

It's been going on for the last hour.

help.

Las Vegas Pictures

So I was too busy trying to get another cocktail than get pictures, but here are the ones that I promised to post.

Here is the view from our 29th floor premier room (it just means we have a slightly bigger room and a view). The big pool of water is in front of the Bellagio across the street. No dancing waters on our trip as it was too windy.

An iPod dock on our bed side table. Dave doesn't like my music so the iPod docked was undocked and used on the flight home.

Isn't that the sexiest thing that you have ever laid eyes on...If Dave would just move out of the way. He's blocking my view!

It's just like we're walking along the Seine...except we are completely indoors...and there is a Keno screen on the building above the middle door.

We meandered around the Venetian before Blue Man Group started. Dave would only agree to go on the gondolas if they WOULDN'T sing. The consolation prize for me was that I made him come with me to visit the stores for Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin.

We decided to sit a moment before the show started and I had the best cocktail of my life, the cucumber martini. yum. Pictured is the Aqua Water and the Red Lotus, both scrumptious.

I may have mentioned that it was really windy for the few days we were in Vegas. Well, here is my fuzzy picture of the strip from atop of the little Eiffel Tower. I was shaking. I paid $10 to stand in the wind high above the strip.

A memory from the past

An old friend forwarded a link to me. That link belongs to a blog of an ex from the early 90's.

I told him this song was about him. Only the beginning was about him.

a few things

We are going to try and get a new kitten, tomorrow from Animal Control. Yeah!

I saw ryan the trainer this morning and my arms are just now starting to get sore. Dave is pretty sure that I won't be able to raise my arms tomorrow. Now how am I supposed to hug my new kitty cat? I'm not the best planner...

We just got home from Forgeting Sarah Marshall and it was just so great! The pig scene, the score for the Puppet Dracula Musical oh there were so many favorite bits of the film. And why do Europeans have to wear a speedo? Baggie board shorts are the way to go here in these United States!

If you want to catch Dave's spirit on film, the part where Peter is happy and he's hanging with older tourists, in the hot tub or on the water slides with a bunch of kids, you will definately see my Dave's personality on screen.
